It’s officially summer and the garden becomes more and more beautiful each day. With our CSA underway we have lots to harvest, weed, and replant for continuous supply. Our CSA members are enjoying kale, chard, lettuce jalapeño peppers, bell peppers, blackberries raspberries , radishes edamame, potatoes, garlic, carrots, leeks, green beans, a variety of herbs, summer squash, and fresh cut flowers. Corn and tomatoes will be ready in a few weeks and we are replanting crops that can tolerate the hot heat while planning our fall harvests. Watermelon and pumpkins have just started to take off and are grow quickly with all the rain we’ve had. The weeding, mowing, and mulching is never ending but makes such a difference in keeping our garden healthy and productive. For those working on indoor tasks we’ve been drying herbs like lavender, green onions, mint, hibiscus flower, chamomile, lemon verbena, strawberry and raspberry leaves, eucalyptus, etc for our teas, dried herb mixes and seasonings, and for our natural beauty products. We hope you are staying cool out there and enjoying summer so far!
